Back on board now and eating (for a change!!). Its been a really hot and very enjoyable day on the beach, dodging the Pelicans plunging after fish right next to you and Iguana’s stalking the beach looking for titbits.

Finally arrived at Magen’s Bay Beach. $8 each for the ride each way and $4 to get onto the beach itself. The weather is partially cloudy but its still beautiful and warm and the sea is like a warm bath. We are now set for the day!

We have now been joined by Adventure of the Seas. With 4 ships in the port will be rather busy today. At least the Oasis or Allure is not here!!!!

A view of Charlotte Amalie as we pull into port. We are going to be docked at the Havensight end and not where I thought we would go, Crown Bay. The Carribean Princess has gone there and the rest of us are at the other end of town.

We have reached St. Thomas on schedule to find the Caribbean Princess, Adventure of the Seas, Carnival Victory already there and waiting to go into port. The pilot has just joined us and we are now heading into port.

On the way back to the cabin, I sneaked into the main dining room to take a few photos. It is called the Grand Cuvee Dining Room and is situated on decks 3 & 4. Our table (212) is situated on deck 3. We had asked for a table for 2 which is what we got albeit only separated by an inch from 2 other tables of 2. We are not accustomed to dining with other people but gave it a go on the first night and luckily we have been blessed with some really good table companions so have stuck with it. We have a couple from Newport on their first cruise of what will probably be many and also a retired couple from New Jersey (Giz & Donna) who zip around the ship quite merrily on their mobility scooters. I have to say that they are an absolute scream!

With ships of this size, getting between decks is one of the obstacles that you encounter. There are numerous lifts situated throughout the ship, 3 forward and 8 midship by the atrium. They cover decks 3 to 14 (no deck 13 on this ship).
We on the other hand have decided to try and use only the stairs which is OK coming down but does make you blow a bit going up! I counted 15 steps between each deck, so far we have kept to our pledge but how long will it last?

One of our better buys has been the Bottled Water Package, at $12 a day for unlimited San Pellegrino or Evian you cannot go wrong. It is supposed to be per person but we have been offered 2 glasses just about every time we have ordered our sparkling water at meal times.
