Three tugs await us on our approach to Venice.

A self confessed Cruiseaholic…… with barely enough funds to support his passion!
Its an early start this morning which has been assisting with a clock change which gave us an extra hour in bed.
Unfortunately its yet another short stop and I kick myself for not studying the itinerary close enough when we booked. We are due to arrive at 7.00 and leave at 1.00 pm which hardly gives you time to do anything.
And on top of that we are going to dock at the port of Dubrovnik and not tender which means yet again we are subject to the MSC cash cow machine having to purchase shuttle transfers in order to get to the old town, €10 for adults and €7.50 for children. It doesn’t help that we were 45 minutes late getting in either.

For the second successive cruise we have not used the lifts at all. Our cabin is on deck 9 with the buffet and pool being on deck 13, so plenty of climbing during the day. In the evening most of the bars and restaurants are on decks 5, 6 and 7 which means at the end of the day we climb to bed. The first few days it is a bit hard going but it does get easier the more you do it.
There are 15 steps between each deck and I am proud of the fact that I managed the climb from deck 4 to deck 13 (75 steps) even after the Santorini trip.

We just heard the muster drill being sounded for the Thomson Majesty which is moored right next to us so we wandered over to watch how they do it. They adopt the put your life jacket on and stand on the prom deck method.
Interesting to see that all the disembarking luggage has been stood out in the sun for at least 5 hours. I hope nobody has chocolates for presents back home in their case! You can’t even walk on the deck in bare feet here so I dread to think what their cases are like!

After much debate we have decided to stay on board ship. The weather is excellent and the ship is virtually deserted and why follow the masses into town where it will be crowded and hot. The boys have the pool to themselves and are quite content to stay put. I’m off for lunch now where I know for certain I won’t need to look long for a table!
