About the ship, the cruise and how we came to choose it…..

The Norwegian Epic is the newest addition to the NCL fleet and is due to enter service in June 2010. She will have a gross tonnage of 153,000 and will have the capability to cater for 4,200-passengers. There are many innovative features with this new ship and it will be very interesting to see how the new style wave cabins will be received especially with new bathroom layout.

We are very curious to see how these new style cabins will look and feel to stay in and so have booked a balcony wave cabin like the images below. I think the artist impressions have made them look very appealing. They certainly look very spacious so will just have to wait and see how authentic this images are.

Here is a plan of how the cabins work back to back making use of the wave shape to seemingly maximise the available space.

Wave Cabins Plan

We decided to book this little 1 night inaugural cruise as a treat for our 3rd wedding anniversary.
We have combined it with a one night stop over in Rotterdam and will staying on the SS Rotterdam, the former Holland America Line ship which has been converted into a floating hotel.

Having not cruised with NCL before we thought we would see if their brand of freestyle cruising would appeal to us. I know its only one night but we should be able to have a good look round and see what is on offer.
